Advanced Search in Resolve – how strategic partnership working supports progress between tlmNexus and DE&S

A case study to demonstrate the consistent evolution of our consultancy, software development and ongoing support

This case study examines how the distinctive blend of expert consultancy with in-house software development works at tlmNexus, using the example of the latest iteration within Resolve, the well-established collaborative issue management system for complex military equipment, developed and enhanced over a number of years by tlmNexus with DE&S.

Clients of tlmNexus gain a unique advantage through the company's integrated approach, and as an independent SME, we bring focused innovation and an agility that can be highly valuable to the sector.

Resolve has become central to the way many military platforms are managed, and tlmNexus’ internal Resolve Strategic Working Group (RSWG), was established to generate a longer-term vision for the application.  RSWG’s roadmap follows three guiding principles to ensure the company consistently raises the bar:

·        Increase product value to satisfy end user needs

·        Focus on customer relationships to ensure DE&S Alignment with their technical goals

·        Identify changes to meet DE&S future needs

One of the early game-changing outputs from the RSWG to inform the Resolve product roadmap is a new Advanced Search capability. This was demonstrated to the lead user, a major platform, and was delivered during 2024. The capability operates outside Resolve via an ODS (Operational Data Store) to ensure the rapid return of results at the same time as minimal impact on the live application. tlmNexus produced a User Guide, and every platform using Resolve is being on-boarded with the new Advanced Search capability. A demonstration to the wider DE&S community prompted user requests for deployment to all user platforms without delay.

The next focus for the RSWG is to develop the requirements for a new data analytics capability to better exploit the data and insight that Resolve holds.
