Job Description
An opportunity has arisen within tlmNEXUS to lead the analysis department into a new and exciting future. The ideal candidate would be experienced in dealing with clients and developers alike, understanding both the business and technology limits of solutions. You will be required to ascertain client requirements and communicate the requirements to the Development team clearly and accurately; effectively overseeing the implementation of a new system. An excellent working knowledge of the UML is required, other analysis methodologies would be considered although the UML is currently our preferred methodology.
Ideally the successful candidate would have a working knowledge of Enterprise Architect. This knowledge would include the ability to extend the tool and train other members of the team in its use.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Liaising extensively with external or internal clients:
• Some travel will be required within the UK visiting potential new clients to ascertain their needs including some work on Government and Ministry of Defence sites
• Producing project feasibility reports and pre-sales scoping documents
• Ascertaining client requirements through interviews and workshops, analysing current systems, assessing business purpose including:
• Translating client requirements into highly specified Business Requirements Documents
• Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability
• Drawing up specific proposals for new, modified or replacement systems
• Writing Business Requirements Catalogues and mapping processes diagrammatically with the UML
• Writing Functional Specifications
• Presenting proposals to clients
• Creating screen mock-ups
• Drawing up a testing schedule for the complete system, some system testing, planning and working flexibly to a deadline
• Leading a small team of analysts:
• Mentoring their output
• Offer on the job training to develop the team's core skills in techniques such as UML
• Working with the developer team and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
• Educated to degree level
• Academic training in database design
• High quality written English is a pre-requisite
